A Perfect Holiday With Comfortable Stay in a Saga Hotel

Saga is a prefecture in the north western part of Kyushu Island, Japan touching the Sea of Japan as well as the Ariake Sea. The area located to the western part of the prefecture is renowned for the production of ceramics and porcelain. These areas are predominantly centered on the towns of Karatsu, Imari and Arita. The close proximity of Saga to the main lands of Asia made it an important gateway for the transmission of culture and trade right throughout the history of Japan.

Apart from the capital city of Saga and Karatsu, the other areas are primarily agricultural and forested lands which comprise almost over 68% of the combined prefectural land area. A look back into history shows that the Saga Prefecture was then known as ‘Hizen Province’. It was from the period dating to the Meiji Restoration that the current name has been derived. Ever since the ancient times, rice farming culture has always been prospering. The ruins of Nabatakeiseki in Karatsu are vestiges reminders of the existence of rice farming activities undertaken since then.

An attraction worth a look is the Saga Castle. This is a rare castle to be found in Japan which has uniquely been surrounded by a wall rather than being built on one. This classical castle was first built in the period from 1591 to 1593. Though damaged by a fire in 1726 it was renovated in 1728. However, another fire broke out in 1835. In the span of two years Naomasa Nabeshima belonging to the Nabeshima clan had it renovated and moved in. After that the castle underwent changing roles. In 1874 it was converted for use as court building and a prefectural office.

The city of Saga has an airport which has now made it easier for travelers to reach the city and enjoy the attractions it offers. One can also reach the city by embarking down on Fukuoka airport which is connected to the Saga airport through an express bus.

The guests can look forward to a comfortable stay in a choice Saga hotel or Saga Motor hotel which is conveniently located in either close proximity to the train station or the airport. One can also find a suitable Saga hotel which is near the peaceful Kono Park or beside the historic Saga castle. The other attractions which find flavor with a number of tourists are the Yutoku Inari Shrine and the Saga University.

The city of Saga plays host to some popular annual events which are a source of attraction for the tourists. One likeable festival is the Saga International Balloon Fiesta which is organized each autumn. It is supposedly one of the largest international hot air balloon festivals in Asia. Most hotels are conveniently located providing ease of access to bowling, biking, golfing, tennis and many other activities to ensure the visitors do not have a boring time while on holiday to the city. The travelers traveling for business purpose will also find amenities and facilities suitable to their needs and requirements as per international standards.
